I am an actuary with passion…for a lot of things.

Some people think an actuary with passion is an oxymoron.  How can an actuary have passion?

They think actuarial work is boring.  Lots of numbers.  Formulas.  Complex rules and regulations.  How can anyone have a passion about that?

Well, numbers, formulas, and complex rules and regulation can offer a lot to be passionate about all by themselves, but for me, it’s the things we can do with these elements that make me excited.

In fact, if you actually get to know an actuary – or several – you will find that a lot of us are pretty excited about the opportunities we have to make a difference in this world.

With this blog, I intend to share insights that drive some of my passions.  Some of it will be directly related to the actuarial profession.  But some of it will deviate widely.  You see, in addition to being an actuary, I am a human being.

It is my hope that by sharing insights about some of the things I am passionate about, I can spark some interest in things that maybe you hadn’t thought about in a way that stirs your own passion.
